You know that saying? The one that says, "when it rains, it pours?" Boy, have we felt that here at Small Wonders the last couple of weeks. It's been a couple of weeks of craziness with lots of teachers and kiddos being out sick. We are ever so thankful to our amazing families for being supportive through this time. We know it's hard when we have to close our doors for a day or have a late start, but you all have been so very understanding. We have some incredible staff who have spent hours deep cleaning and sanitizing to keep your littles safe and I'm happy to say that it appears that we are finally on the upswing of things! Yesterday and today brought a lot of rain which unfortunately kept us all inside during recess. Here at Small Wonders, we don't let that get us down! We use this as an opportunity! We have gotten to learn about clouds, thunder, lightning, rain, and storms. We even got to learn that certain slimy creatures LOVE this weather, and you get to see them more when it rains...like slugs and worms! A few of our teachers asked if it would be okay to go outside after the rain had stopped yesterday... we decided to one up it and encouraged a big puddle splashing dance party! Your kiddos and their teachers (and some of the admin) had a blast splashing around in the big puddle in the front parking lot. Then today while it was lightly raining, a class went on a rain walk! It was the cutest thing to see them all buddied up and walking around the building in the rain. :) I am so thankful that we are able to encourage creativity in our teachers!
All this to say, there is so much that we, as adults, can learn from these sweet kiddos. One of them being... when rain comes, and it will, don't let it get you down. Let it water your flowers and go dance in the rain and puddles! God doesn't send real rain for no reason, and He certainly doesn't allow the metaphorical rain for no reason either. Whatever season you are in right now, I pray that your kiddo is a constant reminder to you to look for the joy in the rain.
I remember crying many tears when I got the text. “I wanted to let you know that I will no longer be able to provide care for your children moving forward.” This was the text I received from our in-ho
