It Takes A Village

2024. Can you believe it? It's already the start of a new year. A fresh new beginning. For some, the new year brings with it resolutions... ways in which to better themselves in the coming year. For others, the year starts off with a big 'ole To Do List... a bucket list of things that must be accomplished in the coming year. Personally, I like to come up with a word or a mantra for my year. Something to focus on and guide me through my year. I like to have one for myself and one for my family as well. My personal word this year is "Connection."

As a mom, I find that it is so easy to lose myself in the "mom bubble." All that I am is a mama. Don't get me wrong! All that I have ever wanted was to be a mom. I've known since I was young that this was what I was put on this earth for. I was called to raise these amazing tiny humans. However, it is easy to lose myself in that, to forget that I also am ME. In order to show my little minis how to love themselves and how to love and encourage their future wives, I must be able to do it myself!

So, my goal this year is to make those connections outside of the home. Go out and be "Ashley the woman" not just "Ashley the mom." Make friends. Have girl's nights. Go on adventures. Have coffee dates with friends. Break out of my comfort zone. And then come home and love on my babies as only a mama can.

I know that I am not the only one out there who has felt this. So, I encourage all of you to look inside yourselves and find what it is that you need to do to take care of yourself this year! Are you a resolutions person? A list maker? Or a mantra mama like me? Let me know what your word or goals are this year! Let's hold each other accountable. After all... it takes a village.
